Monica’s career in hospitality began before graduation, but her natural flair for communications came even earlier. As a child she spent her summers in native Vermont on stage or on stilts at Bread and Puppet Theater. Her passion led her to pursue a degree in Theatre at Johnson State College, graduating in 2004 with honours. Working as she studied, Monica was introduced to the world of luxury spas in Stowe, Vermont.

After graduation, Monica moved to sunny Santa Monica, working her way up the ladder in the beauty and wellness industry. After five years, she decided to fuse career and passion by pursuing an MBA in Hospitality Marketing. She graduated from prestigious Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland in 2009 – again with honours – and took her first role with Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in 2010.

Brand champion of the award-winning Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman, Monica rolled her sleeves up and took on everything from sustainability measures to brand auditing to social media. Promoted to PR and Media Manager in 2011, Monica was soon representing the brand on stage.

Not content to rest on her laurels, Monica spent her weekends pursuing a Diploma in Digital Communications at the DM3 Institute in Dubai. This served her well in her next challenge – as Director of Marketing Communications for the brand in Vietnam.

In 2016, Monica took her first job with Minor Hotels as Cluster Director of PR for three Anantara properties. From rolling out local guru experiences at the Anantara Siam Bangkok flagship to creating enhanced wellness programmes, Monica’s hands-on approach soon led to a new corporate-level role, that of the first Director of Public Relations for MSpa. While overseeing brand communications for 60 spas worldwide, she was also the acting Director of Wellness.

A move back to the United States in 2018 had her fill yet another inaugural role, this time with the iconic Four Seasons hospitality brand as Director of Public Relations and Communications at The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Bahamas. She was part of a team that maintained top status among its competitive STAR rankings as well as the highest ADR within the brand. Monica was known among the resort community as a creative wordsmith, and a leader whom any employee could reach out to.

In late 2019 following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian to the islands of Grand Bahama and The Abacos, she organized the resort's financial and volunteer efforts; balancing several weeks of volunteering with World Central Kitchen with the post-crisis business needs of the unaffected resort.

Throughout her hospitality stints, she has written for on and offline publications in Southeast Asia, served as online editor, and has consistently featured as thought leadership in alumni publications. Beyond being a wordsmith, she has stretched herself outside the traditional job description: as an invited panelist on discussions of sustainability, luxury, and digital marketing; and as master of ceremonies at several consumer and business events. Her consultancy is often sought, and has helped across other industries, such as not-for-profit and entertainment.

Drawing on her creative background, Monica represents her clients with artistic passion, ingenuity, and verve. She advocates sustainable and ethical business practices while maintaining a grassroots lifestyle.
